Bad Limericks about fools in Congress...

I may be homeless
I may be jobless
but I will win the pool
about whose the lesser fool
against any member of Congress....

Take away Congress' pay
and when they holler hey!
Remind who really works
that most folk don't have "perks"
Then evict, cause they can't stay!

I still say, take away their paychecks folks.... If I was this irresponsible, I'd get sued by the company as well as fired.

Church of Autumn - a poem

Reverential

In the sacred ways they gather
watching the changing season
as the colors explode around them
standing in reverential silence
as the birds give one last hymn
before hiding away or leaving
while the falcon perches for a moment
upon the light pole seeking
one last pigeon for the long road south.

Bully Birds of the Porch

its the season
the bully birds are out
strutting and posing as they drive off
the competition for the ladies
and the food.

Watching them race
across the porch and grass
I see the patterns of dominaton addressed
by those still hanging around
or muscling in.

The pigeons walk
oblivious to anything around them
save the lightning raids of the sparrows
who steal the larger crumbs
then race away.

The winner's reward
is to march up boldly
and stare at the humans demanding food
as haughtily as a cat
but more rude.

I move on
ignoring their pleas and demands
knowing others give in far to often
which is why they
are so fat.

The Pigeons' Beggar-King

Bravest of the whole flock
the beggar king rules the steps
eyeing each one who settles
to enforce his fair share given
to his unruly feathered subjects
and ensure they live another day.

He struts the cement abutment
with that demanding red eye gaze
willing to fly into danger
and faces when sandwiches are lifted
to secure every morsel possible
thus keeping his subjects happily fat.

Woe to him who ignores
the demands of this tyrant bird
for there is in store
a fate worse than death itself
that of the aerial Bombardment
to protest a skinflints meager tithe...
...and marking him until laundry day.

Yes, this bird exists, where I get my main meal each day. He is a true brave and aggressive tyrant, which is why many of us now take that sack lunch to go somewhere else to consume it. Only to find another flock or kingdom, whose regal one is nearly a clone.
