Eulogy of the "Captchas"

Yes, for the summer, I am turning off the Captchas, and risking an invasion by the Evil SpamBot Empire, but for a reason. Too many folks have griped that they had to do that to comment here. Well, we'll see how it goes, now that the Captchas are dead, for the summer at least. Longer if this works and the above mentioned forces of darkness do not force me to moderate the comments to heavily.

So, that said... let us have a few seconds of silence for the Captchas, followed by some poems, then, hopefully, a rousing discussion on my ancestry, habits, and writing style. Preferably more of the latter than the former two.

Eulogy of the Captchas - A poem by Dyfedd Rex.

Slain by the finger,
one simple click,
and then they faded
back to oblivion,
to see what rules,
honest, constructive discourse,
or hate and rage.

Sent to their grave
in unmarked field,
the once valiant guardians
of this place
and my own sanity
during tougher times
when I was down.

Left to be forgotten,
they lie uneasy
inside that unmarked trench
with other tools
tossed aside of late
as I begin
a new, brighter path.

None sing of them,
fewer still say
anything kind about acts
they prevented oft,
but to sooth wounds
they have been
at last turned off.

Woe unto the Captchas,
who once stood
upon the commentary ramparts,
and now rot
amid other vile flotsam
I have tossed
into Toxic Word Dumps.
