How do you say "Thanks",
for a gift laid upon you
when all you were doing
is what you really should have?
This morning, I was gifted
by a family for holding open
the door at the 7-11
for them to enter before me.
They felt they just needed
to buy my cup of coffee
even when in my pocket
were the funds to cover it.
So, does the words said,
a heart-felt, sincere "Thank you"
with a bow India style
cover it in my ledger book?
Not really. At least not
as I keep a balance of
kindness done to my benefit.
So, how do you live up...
... when you were just being a gentleman.
