(The following is in no way truly reflective about my religious beliefs, what the nature of the metaphysics we have yet to understand are, or such, but just me having fun, with words. If it offends you, tough, the actions of most religious folks offend me, as they ignore what they want to from their canon texts, to crush those around them, force them to be as idiotic and cruel as they are, and sacrifice the free will their God gave them to being the slaves of those who have money, despite their founders railing against the actions of those with money.  Me? I'm just trying to make folks laugh. Pretty sure any God would approve of that.)

So, I have to ask this...
In this day of commercialization, homogenized cultures, and monolithic party structures, perhaps this is the best reason for diversification.

With our long push to eliminate all the old gods, somewhere along the line, we lost the ones that were really not so much gods, but... quality control. And not just of all life, but the most important parts.

We lost the team that ran quality control on weekend life. We lost, in our drive to destroy the threats to our one true path to salvation, the ones who ensured the beer was well brewed, the wine well crafted, the dancers and musicians well inspired and gifted in their arts. We lost the ones who made us come to the revels, and give in to the urge to dance, drink, make merry, so we might forget that tomorrow we might die (or at least wish we were dying, instead of suffering the hangover).

Right now, I hope that the proliferation of micro-breweries, despite them all looking so alike, is a sing that the ancient brewing gods and goddesses never left, just had to wait for us to accept their gifts, in some small way. Do Nin-Kashi, Dionysus, Siduri, Soma, Silenus, Radegast, and all the others, still watch over the vinters, brewmeisters, and distillers out there, offering up their blessings upon the batch being made?

Well, at least on the bottle I wish to sip of tonight?
